A tense quiet settled in over southern Israel on Thursday as a ceasefire seemed to go into effect following three days of intense fighting between the IDF and Palestinian terror groups in the Gaza Strip.

Seven rockets pounded Israel early Thursday morning, in addition to one that was intercepted by the Iron Dome counter-rocket defense system near Ashkelon. In total, the IDF said that 130 rockets were fired into Israel since Monday.

No, cease fire never does last. At some point, escalation will be imminent. This attack will only push Israel farther into the corner it is already so jammed into, it is basically part of the paint scheme. There will be a breaking point, but the question is, will we see it.

I have no idea why Israel is not firing back. The only logical reason I can come up with is they are processing their next step. It needs to be far reaching, because they have neither the land or man-power for any legnthy campaign. Whatever response Israel gives will need to be strategic, surgical and brutal. Anything less will only guarantee short term retaliation from the enemy.
