Forkless Friday Obama Event

Now, you just KNOW that if Romney had done this, he would be roundly excoriated for being racist, as this happened at an event for Hispanic leaders.

“As you know, we’re having another speaker and there is some Secret Service involved. So there’s a reason why there’s no knives at your table and the forks will be collected. ... And I’m not joking,” Regalado told the audience in a ballroom at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. “So, like the good Hispanic mother I’m here to tell you to please, eat your lunch.”

According to the Secret Service, says the article, this is common for large-group events. Hmmmm . . . I've certainly never heard of this being done before. Anyone else ever heard of this?

Yet ANOTHER thread I was going to start (just today!), but didn't know whether "Politico" is an okay site with our dear mods. (I said in another thread that I really need to go look to see what is allowed and was is not allowed -- the "no-no" sites). I agree, Musician. The Lamestream Media would be all over this if it had been Romney. And, I, too, have never heard of this being done before. Okey-dokey---- what's NEXT with this emperor-in-chief of ours!

Oh, icebear! We love sporks (my DD's do, anyway)! Actually, we used to call them "Splades" since our first set came via my brother back in the '70's when he took his first (sailing) trip to Australia. He now lives there--lucky guy! He said in the land down under they called them splades. Gee--- I wonder if our RR $teve would chime in on this one. Okay---back to the thread!

Basically, before Obama spoke before a national group of Latinos the other day, the group was told to hurry and finish the portions of their lunch that required forks because Obama was about to come out and speak, and for security reasons the forks would be taken up before he came out.

This is something I've never heard of happening before, not in all my days, even during the Obama admin. I don't know why this was done, but according to the article, Secret Service says this is not an uncommon occurrence. I've certainly never heard of it being done before, though. If it's been done before, though, I'm not sure why it merited articles on several websites.

The Secret Service cannot allow a fork to be seen stuck in O's mouth because it would make it even more obvious that he speaks with forked tongue.


Possible related issue: O may be remembering his childhood. Doggy bags are fine, but Loin of Dog is too tough for plastic utensils.
