Pentagon holds first gay pride event

The Pentagon on Tuesday saluted open gays in the ranks, with a civilian lawyer calling on fellow homosexuals to “stretch a little” and become more visible inside the military in the drive for benefits for same-sex couples.

“We need to be as visible as we can be,” Gordon Tanner, principal deputy general counsel of the Air Force, said at the Defense Department’s first gay pride event. “Let us be a bridge to our straight allies.”

The Pentagon is not providing benefits to spouses of gay service members because federal law defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

The Pentagon chose Mr. Tanner and two other gays — a Marine officer and a West Point graduate — to talk about the military during the ban on open gays, known as “don’t ask, don’t tell,” and about the months since its official repeal on Sept. 20.

Once the military/intelligence community embraces it, it's going to be in the mix from there on, I think.

So, before a new president can step in, the infection is already there. Somehow I'm not surprised.

That was the reason for letting them "come out..." Liberals knew that the rebellion in homosexuals would destroy not only the discipline instilled by the military, but also the conservatism that has long been present in the armed forces. My guess is that the military is now a revolving door with God-fearing good soldiers leaving and people of every other stripe entering.

And I can see, with that sort of move, how much easier it will/would be to use those kinds of "soldiers" as ones to attack civilians who aren't going to be overcome by Adolf Zer0's lies and orders.

I believe that's deliberate. Overwhelm us with a barrage of freedom-eroding and/or immoral legislation, so that we can't focus our strength on opposing just one or two things. I'm afraid that the destruction of this country as we've known it is inevitable. Could we have guessed even in the free-wheeling Sixties that many things which are now just "ho-hum" to people now would have been so?
