Do you use the self check out at the grocery store? I love to use the self check out for a few items.Although when I have a lot of items I use the regular check out.My biggest pet peeve when using the self check out is people who have a whole cart of groceries and they are taking a very long time. This creates a long wait in line.My next biggest pet peeve is people who come along behind me before I am finished useing my machine and put their articles right next to mine.I think that is so rude.

I have used the self checkout less than ten times ever! Most of those times it was only because I had a couple of items and there was like two registers open. I don't like self- anything like that! I despise the self-flushing commodes, too! They are usually flushing before I even get my pants down!
“My Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:40)

BTW, my son is now in the 7th grade!

Nope. Why pay the piper when I am already playing the tune?? I figure service is reflected in shelf prices so I refuse to do it myself.

Default I most absolutely do not.

Every one of those self-checkers represents someone who doesn't have a job. They've been replaced by a machine. I don't use the ATM for the same reason. I prefer the human element. Besides, humans respond to a smile & chit-chat. Computers & cameras do not.

& no, my opinion isn't very often humble. Lol.

I prefer self checkout. I question whether or not self checkouts eliminate jobs or create more. Up here they have a couple of attendants there to help you, and someone to perform maintenance on the machines. Then there are the jobs created when the machines are designed, built, shipped, installed, etc.

I like them because The checkout process goes at a pace where I can verify I'm paying the price I expect to pay for each item. I like the speed of checking out when using them.

I like them for the reasons Tall Timbers described. And I like to pack my
groceries in my own totes, too. My only peeve is if you stop action for more
than a couple seconds, like to bag up some stuff because the machine
says 'The bagging area is full" then the machine starts prompting you over and over--
"If you are finished scanning items, please touch finish and pay" Otherwise,
    smooth sailing.

I use self-check if I have a handbasket worth of stuff. I use regular checkout if its a cart-full.
