    My "boxscore":

    14 attempts (set at sundown)
    13 catches that consisted of:
    12 cats and
    1 possum

Much of this problem can be traced back to cat owners who do not neuter their pets.

Wear long heavy gloves when dealing with anything trapped - go to the doctor immediately if bitten. Whether rabid or not, there is an immense amount of bacteria on their very sharp teeth.

Have a feeder & birdbath just outside my den door and often see some interesting sights.

A couple of years ago a mama Blue Jay & Jr were checking out the BB, when mama hopped in and started her flapping routine in the water. Jr, being the eager learning juvenile he was, started mimicking mama - but the hilarious part was that he just sat on the rim of the BB doing exactly what mama was doing in the water.

It's so funny that you can pick out the young by their minutely different behavior from the parents. Saw one cardinal fledgeling light on a twig and really check out a bud on the twig; just curious stuff that an adult never does.

Never get tired of watching them!!

Incidentally, there used to be several albino squirrels around here, but haven't seen any for about 2 years now - kinda miss the little devils.

Excellent advice. Now that you mention it it was a possum and not an angry raccoon. Thats quite a score!
