Question Inappropriate choice on Christian radio station

We have a nice Christian radio station in SW Washington and parts of Oregon. It is 104.1 "The Fish".Yesterday they were promoting a movie "21 Jump Street".This movie is R rated.I was confused as to their selection on a movie to endorse.I sent them an e-mail and told them so.It is the only radio station that I now am comfortable listening to.I am now very guarded to this station and will see where their programing is leading .Is it going to get so bad that my house will be quiet because their is nothing appropriate for a Christian to listen to?Very sad.I do not watch television go to movies it is all garbage. What is your opinion on this?

    Well, I agree, bad judgement.

Our local channel is sponsored by donations. I know satellite radio has some good Christian music stations, no commercials at all.

    I listen to MP3, mostly.

Isaiah 6:8 I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “ Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

    Default Praise God

You have been blessed by God in that He showed you the radio station,s true core belief,s before you were swayed by their music.Stick to cd,s of hymns and spiritual songs and ignore the mainstream Christian radio in your area.

My son and I were saying that we may have to buy a CD player and only listen to those.

Try 104.1 - I've found their judgement to be much better.

I've actually heard several questionable things on 104.5 that I'd rather my 4 year old not have heard in the car ... brought up questions I was not ready to answer for her. I'd expect that if I were listening to the news, but not a Christian radio station.

I am sorry that was a mistake. It is 104.1 not 104.5.That I am talking about.I did an edit and changed the 5 to a 1.

Don't forget about the Internet. You could stream radio stations from all over the country, probably many that others on RR listen to locally. Most radio stations I have seen have a link on their website to " listen live"

UNless it's like courageous and got rated PG13 for drug references, that's a terrible choice! I don't agree with totally cutting them out, but be very guarded. They may have been under some law that dictates advertising and they couldn't do anything about it.

Let me ask someone this.Say that you see an inappropriate advertisement on a Christian celebritie' website.Does that celebrity have no control over inappropriate advertising on their website by law?Should a person not listen to that person any longer because of the inappropriate advertising on their website?

If they have no control over the advertising, I'd think they would have a disclaimer somewhere.

Depends on the website, who administers it and how it is set up.

If it is a big name celebrity, chances are their website is managed fully by their publicist/PR person and the celbrity has little to do with the day-to-day goings on.

I don't know if you can get it there, but I really like 88.1 "K Love" they're great!
    John 15:13
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

    1 John 4:16
"And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him."

    Regarding inappropriate content on websites.

I post on another board. I mention I take lithium. They have banner ads, and every time I log on I get a banner ad from a lithium mining company "Help us corner the market". I wonder if I could get my dividends in capsules, or tablets?

I have a blog. Blogger is constantly trying to get me to "monetize" my blog. They will select words from my post and put up ads for various products. I have chosen not to do so. I could probably get some money out of it, but I wouldn't have control.

What if I'm doing a post on the evils of alcohol addiction and they start putting up ads for "mixers"? I have also seen blogs that are just thick with ads, it's impossible to read the content.

So, as long as I have control, I will refuse ad content.

We have to be very careful of our witness, personally, especially if we are engaged in evangelism (which we should).

I think Christian companies need to analyze everything they are putting out there and verifying it matches with the Bible. I know KSBJ (I prefer a more intense blend, myself) gets donations to support the station, so they only put up little 1-minute sermonettes during ad time. I think that is a better approach to take, it possible.

In the world, but not of it, is a very blurry line sometimes.

If you have a smartphone you could get Pandora and listen to that (you can also listen at www.pandora.com). If you've never heard of Pandora it's internet radio. You type in the name of an artist, song, or style of music that you like and Pandora will find similar things to listen to. I listen to it here and there when I want to hear something new.

Even the best will fail at times when it comes to man. It's the trend that is most important.

You might like to try the web as many stations stream radio shows. I haven't a suggestion for a particular station at this time.

I do listen to Old Fashion Christian Radio at http://www.oldchristianradio.com/ it is only on the wed.

At ttb.org you can listen to the latest broadcast of J Vernon Mc Gee. Mon-Fri is Bible study, Sat is question and answers and Sun is a sermon. This past Sun was on Ruth and Boaz, very good.

I still watch TV but I'm rather choosy about what is on. Some of the animated movies that have come out in recent years are rather clever, they have a story and often a moral point.
You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. Ps. 18:28
