What's wrong with Homosexuality if "I was born this way"?

HisHands, if you're here to deny that Romans 1 means exactly what it says you've come to the wrong place.
JESUS is the
Light of the World
Romans 1:25-28
They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.
You can't spin this scripture.
JESUS is the
Light of the World
Homosexuality is a sin and God will never accept it, in fact, He judges it no matter how you can spin it.
The fallen apostate church, such as United Methodists, are welcoming sin and God's judgment into their churches.
If you can see and hear spiritual things you will understand.

HisHands, I see by your thread in the welcome forum you are brand new to Christianity.
Could you share with us your testimony of how you came to know the Lord Jesus Christ?![]()

It completey goes against God's design, and He finds the act of homosexual intimacy an abomination. Jesus died for the homosexual, too, and can find salvation through Him. A Christian who struggles with homosexuality will not revel in their sin--just as when we lie or steal or have sex outside of marriage as heteros, the Holy Spirit convicts us that what we are doing is willfully sinning against God. The Apostle Paul talks about sins of a sexual nature actually defiling the temple that the Holy Spirit resides in. That when we lay down with a prostitute (for instance), we are committing that act against Him.Think about that for a second.
As Christians, we don't want to do that--or condone that. Yes, we still sin, but we don't WANT to. We are to be salt and light in the world--to be IN the world, but not OF the world.
Does that make sense to why this would not be a good thing--in the eyes of God?![]()
Sure, Barb. Probably not as elaborate as some of yours. I have always been around Christianity (Christian friends) but I have never really wanted to be a part of it. It just seemed, not for me I guess. I wanted to do things my own way without having someone else tell me. But I did that, and I always felt like there was just something missing. After some personal problems in my family I spiralled into a state of depression, and things weren't just looking well. One day I was walking back to my car after being at Costco, and I found one of those pamphlets on my windshield. I noticed it was about Christ and how he bridges the gap between us and God. For some reason on that day I felt like something was telling me that this was what I needed. I began to talk to my Christian friends about their faith (which never happened before, and they were thrilled to say the least) and they started telling me more about Jesus and my fallen state. They brought me to Jesus and I've wanted to learn more ever since, so I did some google searching and found this website!
But as my previous comments suggest, I don't necessarily agree with how this website approaches the topic of homosexuality. See, I also have some gay friends who consider themselves Christian, and I've listened to their testimonies as well. I noticed in Romans 1 it says "God gave them over to shameful lusts." My issue with this is that these Christian friends I am talking about say that they have always known Jesus and grown up with him in their lives. They became Christians at young ages, but found out they were gay later. How could God "give them over" if they've always been with him? They are some of the most loving and selfless people that I know. They've gone through alot of pain trying to work out how their orientation works in with their faith. But one thing is for sure, they didn't choose to be that way. Think about it guys, why would anyone choose that?
Hopefully you can understand where i'm coming from.![]()
"...earnestly contend for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints." Jude 1:3b
Jesus + something = nothing
Jesus + nothing = Everything
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
2 Chron. 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Now I need to follow these truths also, and realize that the world and the people of this world would have me not hear, and read the truth of the Almighty God through His word. I am a wretched sinner. I am filled with pride and a liar.

These verses are as straightforward as they can be.
The new believers I've seen (and was) have an insatiable hunger for the Word of God. They can't get enough of learning what God says. God births that into their spirits. And the Holy Spirit gives a supernatural illumination to their understanding; the natural man cannot perceive it.
Just out of curiosity, how did you read the verses. Leave a pro-homosexual agenda out of it, they're not about homosexuality - just tell what you are able to understand.

I'm confused with your last line, iSong. Aren't you saying the verses are about homosexuality?
Everyone needs a God hug!
Working homosexuality into faith is simple: it's a sin. Yes, there are Christians that struggle with homosexuality but they recognize that it's a sin. They resist their urges and cling to Jesus Christ. Some become heterosexual; some He has called to remain celibate.
I agree that nobody chooses to be gay; they do choose, however, how they act on those feelings. Just like it's a sin for a man to lust after a woman besides his wife and then sleep with her, so too is it a sin to sleep with someone of the same sex. Today's homosexual believes that he was born that way so it must be okay to engage in that behavior. Is it okay for a thief to steal? Some people just grow up wanting to steal things but that doesn't justify their behavior. Other people will say that it's okay to be gay because God made them that way. God doesn't make people gay. We live in a fallen, sinful world and we're bound by the effects of sin. Deadly nightshade is naturally poisonous but just because it's made that way doesn't mean we should partake in it.
Scripture was written with one message. It needs to be interpreted insofar as it needs to be understood. People are trying harder than ever to make homosexuality "work" with Christianity but the Bible is clear on the matter. Justifying homosexuality is easier now because unlike murder or theft the effects of allowing sexual perversion to become acceptable in a society take much much longer to appear. Read up on Sodom and Gomorrah. The men of the city of Sodom were ready to break down Lot's door to sexually assault the two angels that God had sent for Lot. Genesis 19:4-5 NKJV "4 Now before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, both old and young, all the people from every quarter, surrounded the house. 5 And they called to Lot and said to him, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may know them carnally.'"
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
In the event of darkness, depression, sadness, or loneliness, your Bible can be used as a flotation device.
Great post Penguin. I've dealt with my son on this before, youth today have a different attitude on this subject. They've been convinced in some way that people who 'preach the bible' are just hateful and ignorant or something. Its difficult to persuade its sin, like every other sin, and how to view it from God's perspective, and how Christ died for them as well, and to listen to what He says about sin and how to deal with it.
Don't panic! Just be Rapture Ready.
Joel 3:2
I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.
