I wouldn't know without said drilling. I'm just saying that from the vague shallow surface understanding I have about him.
I very much respect his honesty and willingness to say what he's going to say without fear of the PC police. Allen West calls a spade a spade and a communist a communist; which happens to be many in the democratic party!
I do know Allen West is a straight shooter, a US veteran, and willing to tell it how it is like few people can. He'd make a fine VP, and would be a decent pick.
But his voting record, especially the NDAA bit, would be the first thing on the chopping block for the opposition and his critics.
Someone like Cain, you could only attack his personal life which folks look down on. His record, the thing that matters, is otherwise spotless.
If the best that Obama can do is personally attack his opposition, he won't win with that.
If that would be his game (it'd all but have to be with someone like Cain), it would be a war of attrition. He's not exactly in a position to do that given his own dirty laundry.
With Rubio, I don't think there's any dirt on him at all beyond the potential eligibility thing; and I would honestly love, love to see how Obama might tackle that.
_____
OT, Condoleezza Rice, I think she would be a bad pick.
I doubt she's going to tear into Obama like a Rubio, West, or Cain pick. I guess he can do a lot worse then Condi if that's who he's going to pick.
Being better then Biden isn't very hard, but yes, she would be many leagues above him as a VP. At that, the libertarian 'mostly against' abortion thing doesn't sit well with me at all.
Don't think that would be very wise of Romney.
