In other words; What was his rationale as it concerns the bigger picture?
I wouldn't know without said drilling. I'm just saying that from the vague shallow surface understanding I have about him.

I very much respect his honesty and willingness to say what he's going to say without fear of the PC police. Allen West calls a spade a spade and a communist a communist; which happens to be many in the democratic party!

I do know Allen West is a straight shooter, a US veteran, and willing to tell it how it is like few people can. He'd make a fine VP, and would be a decent pick.

But his voting record, especially the NDAA bit, would be the first thing on the chopping block for the opposition and his critics.

Someone like Cain, you could only attack his personal life which folks look down on. His record, the thing that matters, is otherwise spotless.

If the best that Obama can do is personally attack his opposition, he won't win with that.

If that would be his game (it'd all but have to be with someone like Cain), it would be a war of attrition. He's not exactly in a position to do that given his own dirty laundry.

With Rubio, I don't think there's any dirt on him at all beyond the potential eligibility thing; and I would honestly love, love to see how Obama might tackle that.
    _____

OT, Condoleezza Rice, I think she would be a bad pick.

I doubt she's going to tear into Obama like a Rubio, West, or Cain pick. I guess he can do a lot worse then Condi if that's who he's going to pick.

Being better then Biden isn't very hard, but yes, she would be many leagues above him as a VP. At that, the libertarian 'mostly against' abortion thing doesn't sit well with me at all.

Don't think that would be very wise of Romney.

Not that I want her or anyone else, but I think mickey mouse is better than Biden. I think the person who has to debate him will have trouble dealing with him, he's so bombastically naive and crooked. I remember Clinton was accused of being one who will "say anything" to get elected. And then we got Biden.

I do know one thing, I'll just have to deal with whoever it is. Its not like I have a choice over it.

If Romney wants to energize the populous for V.P. he'll choose Ron Paul.

Biden... Biden... Oh, yeah, Joe Biden? Whatever happened to that guy? I was beginning to think Michelle Obama was VP.

What is scarier is they are throwing trial balloons out having Hillary as VP for the Democratic ticket.

The adverse implications are far reaching.

Condi Rice still says no to VP if asked. If she isn't interested in the position, she should not be asked. This nation does not need a half-hearted VP. Having said that, I have not heard one name mentioned that sounds good to me, and I can't think of one.

My husband and I were bouncing names around for a wise VP pick for Romney and he is strongly for Chris Christie's no nonsense approach and I'm leaning toward Allen West. One thing he asked me was if I thought Ron Paul had ever done abortions in his medical career? Hmmm.......don't know.

I actually hope it is Condi. She has a rock solid knowledge of her Bible and she has a rock-solid understanding (to the point she taught it at Stanford) of the Cold War, Putin and what it is Russia is trying to accomplish. I think our country could do a lot worse than have Condi Rice as VP. I'd happily vote for a ticket with her name. I like Rubio, and I'd be happy to see him on the ticket, too, but I don't think he'd ignite the firestorm Condi would. You can't get more intelligent, more knowledgeable than her.

She might have a rock solid knowledge of the Bible but does she live by it?

Are we vetting a possible VP candidate or are we being fruit inspectors?

I watched a WSJ interview in which a few speculative hints are given, though Condi wasn't mentioned, Rubio was...along with a few others.

I somehow remember Dr. Rice using the term "contiguous Palestinian state" a few years ago in support of a Palestinian nation connecting the West Bank with the Gaza strip - effectively cutting Israel in half.

No, I do not think she is a strong supporter of Israel.

And I do not think that Romney would pick Alan West. West is a very strong Christian and would enhance the ticket IMO, but the last thing Mormon Romney wants is someone who believes THE BIBLE, like West or Palin or Bachman as his running mate.

Does anyone live by it 100% of the time? I don't know if she lives by it. I do know that she has been vetted backwards, forwards and back again and there aren't any skeletons in her closet that could come back to bite Romney.
