Yesterday it was 106, today 105 but we are in luck and they are telling us to pull out our jackets, next week will be in the 90's.

On Sunday, I heard a knock at my back door; when I answered it, it was some fish from my lake asking for a drink of water. It is so hot and dry here, the trees are bribbing the dogs. We ran five house fire calls this past week, all arson, when asked why they lite their homes on fire, the owners said they just wanted to live in the past and remember what water looked like.

Oregon is in the upper 70's and low 80's but that doesn't mean its nice to be here.

I've lived in hot and humid places... and really like the temps and dryness we have here. It is interesting that 70 degrees can seem sweltering when you're acclimated to cooler temps... but we leave the window open in the house and at night it gets comfortably cool in the house.

Accuweather says 95 today, but my thermometer outside the kitchen
door says 106 in the sun. Very dry. Had a brief storm on the night of
the 4th, but barely enough to wet the ground and it was mixed with
hail. The grandkids had fun throwing water balloons and squirt gun
battles that day. Really need some of that rain we got in June.

Another warm one here. Thermometer says 101 but it feels like 109. <- (The laughter of insanity)

On a very serious and sad note, the heat is being blamed for this tragedy:

My beloved spake, and said unto me, Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.
For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone; the flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land; the fig tree putteth forth her green figs, and the vines with the tender grape give a good smell. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.

    Baruch haba b'Shem Adonai!

    Midwestern Ontario, Canada!
Nudging 90*F (32-33*C) in the shade. Humidex makes it feel closer to 40*C. We are very dry. We have not had a good rain in a while, and doesn't look like we'll get an all-day soaker any time soon.
It was 80*F in our dairy barn this morning! The poor cows...panting..... hoping we get some relief soon!

Our outdoor thermometer says it's in the 80's, but it's got to be hotter than that. It keeps threatening to rain, but so far only a few drops have fallen. Right now it's mostly thunder. As Shakespeare might say, "full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

At least it's not as hot as it was last weekend!! We've been keeping water on the porch for the cats and our elder DS has been keeping water in the dog's bowl (she's outdoors but under a nice, big shelter under trees and kudzu). One of the cats is black and white (mostly black), so we've been trying to let him stay in as much as he wants, since black absorbs heat. The rest are white or orange, so they're more likely to reflect heat. There's plenty of thick plant growth and a big chicken-house "shop" they can get in and porches they can get under. A lot of times they can be found on the back porch where the water is.

    Just to make you jealous.

Our temperatures are ranging from about 4-6 degrees Celcius to about 20 degrees Celcius. We are in the middle of WINTER.

So far it has been a mild winter with only a few cold snaps. We have been getting a lot of rain which keeps it warmer.
The worst days are the bleak overcast days with a wind blowing. It never warms up.

No fair! You're in winter. Give us a call when it's the middle of summer there. I have my car thermometer set to Celsius for fun and it was 40 yesterday (104 for my non-metric fellow patriots ).

i don't know how you all survive it. i melt at 76 degrees...its been about 85 here, supposed to be 90ish tomorrow- which usually does not happen until August here. we have been lucky in this heatwave, some other places in New England have been roasting

we have been having showers which makes humidity high and that is what makes things tough

It's 11 pm and around 90 here. Tomorrow is supposed to be around 100 again but next week should see low to mid 80s. I'm praying our electric doesn't go out!

Sounds like you guys are experiencing one of our summers. Last summer we had the pleasure of hearing our weather guy prattling on about a *once in a century* summer for heatwave temps and dryness. Whoopee! Right now though it is 22 deg celcius (about 70 F) because we are in winter and rain (showers only) hanging about. Sorry

They won't even use the Celsius scale in the lower regions. In fact, to make you feel worse, there will be one of those displays like the ones that tell you what time it is in Lisbon, etc. - only this will tell you the current temperatures, from Honolulu to Copenhagen. The inhabitants will also have to wear thermometers that display the current temperatures in their (former) home towns.
