Worst Case Scenario
By: Maxine M.
We move through life wondering, pondering WHAT will tomorrow bring?
WHAT IF this or that happens…we often envision the worst case scenario in everything
So exactly which “what if” causes you the most anxiety…to fearful anticipation cling?
What if that “lump” you found is cancer? Is this pain something to worry about?
What is going on unseen inside our body…are we prepared to really find out?
What will the future hold health wise…the mind can be consumed by doubt
Jobs are being lost every day while others wonder how long will mine last
What if it happens to me…what would be the future’s forecast?
Relocation, an unemployment line, loss of status…the ramifications are vast
Because we often use our net-worth as a yardstick of success
Thus financial loss is a great fear…how could we ever live on less?
For we commonly see our wants as needs…this fault we need to openly confess
What do YOU worry about the most? The worst case scenario…if your story someone were to write
Loss of spouse, you simply cannot imagine…that kind of loneliness every night?
A childless future, yet untold numbers face this devastating plight
Abandonment, divorce, a loved one addicted to “something” they’re powerless to beat
A disability, prison sentence…loss of freedom brings such mental defeat
The “aloneness” that occurs in old age as friends and family leave us…the funeral scene over & over repeat
Fire, floods, nature on the rampage all bring an outcome we can’t immediately see
Loss of memory & reason or the take over by big Government…how much longer will we really be free?
All problems to figure out, find solutions to, what the next bend in life’s road will be
What challenges do you face today…or situations you fear COULD happen before long?
That worst case scenario we worry about causing apprehension to grow strong
But worry is a subtle sin…an act of mistrust which simply is wrong
Most of the time that worst case scenario never happens & our worry was all in vain
And robs us of time & energy causing a devastating emotional drain
If only we could learn to put it in God’s hands…what PEACE we’d gain!
Many times we fear that the worst case scenario in our situation is DEATH…a surrendering to the great unknown
The cessation of life, an uncharted journey…many believe it’s simply oblivion to which we’re flown
WHY then the great fear of whatever causes death, disease, accident, or violence to which man is prone?
Unless deep down the soul KNOWS death will bring it to the Creator in a face-to-face meeting
Where the soul will be JUDGED…the unrepentant, condemned for the sin it keeps repeating
But the redeemed will be welcomed by their Saviour’s “WELL DONE” greeting
So death is only the worst case scenario for those who have, the Gift of Salvation rejected
But by accepting Christ, death is DEFEATED…those for whom the life-line is fully connected
Why then do so many Christians still fear the future…when the Father promised you’d be protected?
Telling us: don’t fear the one or the circumstance that can kill the body, but has no power over the soul
Hold in reverence & awe the ONE who has ALL power…has your ETERNAL future in complete control
Who can turn the worst case scenario into the best by His death on Calvary’s grassy knoll
So if we can just trust that the Lord will make all things work for our good
If we can see Him as a loving Father and that a rapturous 2nd Coming is understood
We then can take His hand, let HIM lead, accept His purpose in every scenario as we should
Because if you’re safe in Christ, that worst case scenario has already been conquered
And we know we CAN face whatever today & tomorrow throws our way when Salvation is assured
Perhaps the trials are sent to TRY our faith…love & devotion to Christ re-stirred
Now if you’ve never accepted Jesus as your Saviour…fully relying on the Father’s Grace
Fear of that worst case scenario in your situation, your total being can encase
So WHY wait?! NOW is the time for you to, the Father’s plan, fully embrace
