    Default Good devotionals?

My wife wants a good devotional to keep her engaged in between church bible studies (summer break). Her sister sent a glowing email about "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young and how everyone should get it. So, being the cautious man I am and having already been duped into buying Celebration of Discipline, I searched and found it has strong contemplative ties. A no-no of course. So.... what can I get my wife in lieu of said book?

Try these links if you would like. PDFs are free to download. I bought "Daily Readings From the Life of Christ" 3 volumes, but there is so much available free!

After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this."

Perhaps Today is an excellent 90-day devotional that deals with the end-times by Tim LaHaye. I love it so much that I am now reading again for the second time. I first read it about 2 years ago.

I like "Steams in the Desert" - I love to give that to hurting people.

"Daily Light for the Daily Path" - it would make a good couples devotional, for morning and evening (short readings).

I have a couple specialty ones relating to my own problems.

"Experiencing God Day by Day" is a good one.

I also like my Daily Chronological Bible.

" I have had an increasing burden to engage in some down and dirty, street evangelism." March 6, 2010

Isaiah 6:8 I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “ Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?”

Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

    Matthew 22:9 NIV
'So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’

    I'm praying for you daily!

and his My Utmost for His Highest is a great devotional and with the new English translation with more modern words it's incredibly easy to read.
'Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.' Hebrews 12:2
