I pray for the nation on a regular basis and will continue to do so. I spent over 20 years in the military serving this country and have traveled the world wearing the uniform...despite it's faults (and there are many), this is still the greatest nation in the world and I can not think of another country I would rather live in. We still have more freedom than any place in the world; as bad as things seem, believe me, there are millions of people who wish they had the opportunity to live here.
Do the things currently happening here grieve me? Absolutely, but I still I thank God that he has allowed me to live in this country and enjoy the freedoms that I do.

If Jesus told us to pray for our enemies, how much more should we pray for our country? Yes, many in leadership in our country have become the enemies of Christ; therefore we need to pray. God is still working in people's lives and bringing them to a saving knowledge of Christ; we need to pray for His will, for His ministries, etc. The enemy is working against us constantly; those who do battle need prayer. We need to pray for salvation for people. We need to pray that the truth will get out there in spite of the media and the culture.

Even if I knew that the Lord was coming back for us tomorrow, I would still pray because we need to occupy until He comes. We need to stay in our Ambassador's posts until He returns. And if He doesn't return for another 5 or 10 years, I definitely don't want to have given up my post early.

    Did you read the article?
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Cor 1:18

I can pray for people to get saved but Jesus did not die for countries....but for the lost sinners like me.....
    Jesus HE IS GOD.....
Yes,GOD created the nation of Israel and there is a specific plan for Israel and Praise The Lord for that, but each Jew has got to believe in Jesus to be saved just like any other Gentile ,,,,,,,no JESUS no salvation......
This USA stuff is pretty Idolatrous in my modest opinion, just like in Italy the Italians think The Vatican is God's city and The Pope Jesus on earth....
    Who cares?
Let's watch and pray, the days are evil indeed, come Lord Jesus come,we pray

It is hard to see our country head in the direction it is heading... Especially when I really want to enlist in the military and I have gone back and forth with that idea because of the future that we are crashing into. But I thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to live in it. We have so much that we take for granted.. we have so much freedom that millions across the globe would die to have. In fact, there are people who have died for us to have this. Out there on the battlefield there were men and women who gave their all for us to carry on. And I am most certain that they would do it again despite what is going on. They didn't give up, and I won't let their sacrifice go in vain and give up to. And its my hope that I can give back to them by serving one day too.
    John 15:13
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

    1 John 4:16
"And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him."

When people ask me why I am a christian, I say, "Its the eternal life thing". We sometimes make our faith too complicated. Look into the universe , at the billions of galaxies, with billions of stars in each one and know that the same God that created them created us, and has prepared a place for those who simply believe. Don't ask me the meaning of life on this earth, other than I think it has two purposes from God's perspective. One he wants to show mankind that man is not capable of living by his own rules, as a study of history clearly shows. The second is that he wants to separate the wheat from the tares so to speak. He wants to see what we are made of. Its like being a landlord only your tenant is going to be renting from you a long time, eternity, so don't you think you want a good tenant? I am a horrible sinner, I will admit and there will be eternal rewards and responsibilities in heaven based on our christian walk so this should encourage us to behave. But the simple truth is that I would rather have the rank of private in heaven, than the rank of general in hell. Unfortunately, many want the rank of general in hell, and will get their wish. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and many of the Caesars will be high ranking leaders in hell, along with countless others. I too don't pray for America anymore. My constant prayer is the one that Jesus taught us to pray, the Lords prayer, and there is a part in there that I believe was put there for our time. Lead us not into temptation (the mark of the beast) but deliver us from evil (the evil one, the anti christ)for thine is the kingdom (the rapture) the power and glory forever (eternity in heaven). All I know is that we will not be bored with heaven , it will be like a kid on christmas morning every single day. Its the eternal life thing.

Amen. When Abraham was discussing with the men of God over Sodom whether God would relent if there were righteous people left in the cities...and God rescued the righteous left there. I am righteous through Jesus Christ, I live in this country and so do my children and grandchildren. I want to continue to pray AND occupy, lifting up the name of Jesus...a light in a dark world. God may be bringing judgement...but as I heard preached the other day...there is mercy with that judgement...He has not forsaken those who love His name. And don't forget that many in this country are a friend of Israel...that matters to the God of Israel. Great post!
Jn 3:3 You must be born again.
2 Tim 4: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

I think you misunderstand the sentiments of this article. Praying for the salvation of the people in our nation and praying for our nation are two different things. We are getting to the point where our entire focus should be on God Israel and the salvation of people in the world. The rest will follow (our nation being restored) if it is in God's plan. No one is giving up on our nation!

I was responding not to the article but to some in the series of posts on page 1 of this thread, which seemed to be saying this country doesn't deserve prayer.

One thing that I want to add....I do thank God that I live in the USA. I try to remember to thank Him daily. There is no place else I would rather live (at least on this earth)
