How long before they are labelled a hate group I wonder. I love they are holding on to their core values. But they are going to be harrassed and it will very hard for a boy to wear a uniform to school or anything like that. The world is hell bent on this tolerance jag. Tolerant of anything as long as it's not Christian. I don't like the thought of children on the front lines, this isn't going to go well. Our dictator has already condoned this behavior and so has our military. The lines have been drawn. Let Kirk Cameron take the heat, he can handle it. I feel sorry for Brad Pitt's mom, she had no idea the wasp nest she was stepping into with her statement. My heart hurts for these young boys when all they want to do is learn some neat stuff and have some fun.

BSA has a very strong focus on Youth Protection. It is required of all leaders.

The rule of three, no Scouts in leader tents - designated areas, seperate accomodations for females....


Sadly these idiots can't appreciate the fact that in order to protect ALL Scouts, the most conservative methods are REQUIRED to protect ALL.

There are plenty of homosexuals bent on promoting their agenda and as this creates opportunity for allegations or acts, the rules are in place to protect both
leaders and Scouts.

Although it is a difficult enough task working with young boys who are changing into men, it can be done with safety and respect.
The rules and policies used by BSA have and continue to be successful. And respect for personal beliefs is stressed.
Scouts can share opinions, leaders can site examples, but always the direction on sensitive moral issues is directed to the Scout Law and their own families and faith.

And if doors open to examine such faith, the Holy Spirit provides the wisdom.

There was a letter to the editor in my newspaper berating the Boy Scouts and calling them troglodytes. So I wrote my own letter, and I got a call today from the paper, They are are going to print it in the next couple days. It says pretty much what I said here earlier---instead of complaining they should create their own organization, and make their own rules. The parents could make their own choices about which club their children should join.

I discovered that on the paper's website the Letters section allows comments. I noticed that some comments are really mean. I wonder what kind of things will be said about mine.

Juliette Gordon Lowe, the founder of the Girl Scouts, would be rolling in her grave if she knew what Girl Scouting had turned into. I was a Girl Scout for 12 years and it taught me lots of good things, but if I had a daughter, she would not be joining Girl Scouts now. I have a 15 year old son that is a First Class Boy Scout.

This is why I no longer buy Girl Scout cookies--and we were always good for at least five boxes. I have found that if one feels so inclined, one can donate $$ directly to a specific Troop, bypassing the GS Organization.

CLEVELAND - The United Way of Greater Cleveland Board of Directors unanimously voted to add sexual orientation to its Equal Opportunity and Diversity Policy at its September meeting. It means the Boy Scouts of America's Greater Cleveland Council could lose their funding, since the Boy Scouts policy is to exclude youth based on sexual orientation.

United Way's new policy reads: "United Way is an equal opportunity employer and believes culturally diverse governance structures and workforces are assets to our organization and our partner agencies. We therefore value and champion equal opportunity to all persons without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, disability or sexual orientation. This includes recruiting, training, promotion, compensation, benefits and all other factors involved in the treatment of applicants and employees."

Hopefully, those who gave to the United Way in Cleveland, Ohio, will give their donations that were once ear marked for The United Way and give their donations instead to the Boy Scouts. Two can play that game.

As the mother of two Eagle Scouts and wife of a former troop chairman, I say let them cut their funding. If their money comes with demands that the organization change its foundational beliefs, it's not worth it.

Years ago when my mother was a teacher, she was required to make donations to the United Way by her school district. Legally, they can't do that anymore. My husband, however, still received pressure at his previous job to donate money to them. As for me, I'm way to oppositional defiant to give to this politically correct behemoth. Yes, they do support some good causes, but I can donate directly to the causes I believe in. I don't want my money being used to hammer organizations into submitting to someone's liberal agenda.
