Default Is Politics (Socialism) Ruining the Olympics?

I've been hearing about the Olympics and how things have changed. Apparently the rules have been changed so that they (Olympics Committee) can only take the top two from each country to compete in the finals. So in the case of the USA, there are three girls, and only two can go. Jordy Weiber has been left out, a girl that made it third in her group, because although she is excellent, only 2 girls can go on to the finals. This is what the Olympics Committee are saying: Quote: "We want to spread the wealth. We want to spread sports to other parts of the world." Sounds like Obama right?

Now, there is a problem with eight female badminton players. They were disqualified from the Olympics for trying to lose matches the day before. This is according to the Badminton World Federation. They made this announcement after a disciplinary hearing. These players are from China, South Korea, and Indonesia. They were accused of playing to lose in order to face easier opponents in the future and were booed by spectators.

I am reading this and wondering what else is going to happen in the Olympics. Everything seems to be affected by Socialism and its just the beginning.

And whatever happened to it being for amateur athletes? I was surprised to hear that the Williams sisters were competing in tennis. It was already bad enough that pro-basketball players are there.

Take one and pass it on!

The son of coach murdered at 1972 Olympics has very strong opinions about the Olympic Committee.
    Alert...graphic recount of murder.

YES IT IS. These are the worst Olympics I've ever seen, in the opening show, officiating, rules, construction quality, etc.

I could not agree with you more! IMHO the Olympics should be for amateur athletes only. The pro's have their own playgrounds.

Hah! I'm still wondering when the colors of the USA became grey and purple!

    .

This rule has been in place for a decade. It was always known that only two Americans would be in the All Around Finals. Frankly, I think this is much ado about nothing. Don't get me wrong, I have felt very sorry for Jordyn Wieber, but the way this has been shown in the media has been overkill. BTW, the Russians also had three gymnasts doing all four events in the qualifying around as well.

The Badminton thing would be the opposite of Socialism. It's not Capitalism or any ism. It's just... well... "cheating" in a smart way.
