Have you planned for and saved for retirement?
Yes - I am all set.
Yes - But I don't think I will have enough
Not really - Still working on that
No - Can't see how I can do that with my income
No need - I'll be Raptured soon enough.

I can't even get my emergency fund.![]()
I'll be working 'till I drop, one way or another.

Isaiah 6:8 I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “ Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?”
Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

'So go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find.’
I'm praying for you daily!

I'm retired. I prepared for it, retired fairly young due to disabilities, and am doing okay. I don't know whether I'll have enough or not, so I chose the second "yes". All my life I tried to live below my means and still do so today. With four kids to send to college... things could get interesting. I just hope I can help my kids get through school while the dollar still has some value left. After the kids have gotten a start on life, I don't really care so much if I've got enough or not, though I won't complain if I still have plenty.

I'm not sure what choice to pick. We are currently saving. My DH has some taken out of his check each week. Should we still be here in 25 years when he retires, we should be fine. (so, I picked choice number one)
and to wait for his Son from heaven,
whom he raised from the dead—Jesus,
who rescues us from the coming wrath
1 Thessalonians 1:10
I have read Dave Ramseys blog and am still trying to save some which is the first step. I expect to have to work the rest of my life.
FREEDOM or FREE STUFF, your choice, you only get one!
I've been blessed to have a good 401K. Then someone allowed me to loan from it, so its more of my own personal loan factory or something. Don't think it will ever grow enough to be considered a "retirement" fund. It never mattered to me anyway. We plan on hitching up and traveling at retirement. Be that weird christian couple traveling around, spreading the words of Christ wherever, whenever. Oh yea..
Don't panic! Just be Rapture Ready.
Joel 3:2
I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.
Australia has had mandatory superannuation contributions matched by the Government of the day for quite a while now, so with good management, should be sufficient. DH has been in banking since leaving school so he keeps a weather eye on things for us and he has only 2 yrs to go to retirement (trying not to think too hard about that)![]()
I still think even though these plans have been set in place it is a case of man proposes but God disposes so I am looking to Him for the years ahead and not trusting our super package.
I had a good retirement from where i used to work and then when I had my stroke and had to leave work i had to take from that money. I tried for disability but was denied noone told me that they usually do deny first and you have to basically get a lawyer and file again. So I just used my retirement money and paid lots of taxes and penalties. So now 3 years after my stroke I am back to work part time and have some money left but I know it will not be enough to live on later... especially with the price of health care. Even so, I was very blessed to have what I did or I dont know where I'd be now. Thank you Lord.![]()
Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 10:32
I'm really hoping the Rapture occurs before I have to retire. I still have decades left, so if the Lord tarries, I'll end up on working until I'm dead.
The first time He will come for us. The next time, He will come with us.
I agree. I have very little--actually nothing--in the bank. Between the cost of living and credit card bills, there is very little left. I' m 48 now. Unless the rapture occurs, i will be working and i won' t be able to retire. I pray that the Rapture occurs any day now

Have you planned for retirement?
Yes, invested in a couple of 401(k)s, IRA's etc. When I worked for Nabisco they were VERY generous with their employees - we received 2 pension plans (401k) still have investment in it, they also gave employees "free stock". Plus a separate pension plan - I chose a lump sum payment and put in an IRA account when I left. I've done my part in investing through the years. The quarterly statements look good, HOWEVER, if the U.S. dollar crashes ALL IS GONE ANYWAY. So, I don't really trust in money or get upset if the stock market goes down. I rather be walking on streets of gold than be retired down here.
Til we meet in Beulah Land!
"Only one life 'twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last"
I picked the first choice but really wouldn't word it as 'all set'. I actually retired this summer after working many years as a nurse and the last 25 years for the same hospital system. I paid into an annuity for all those years as well as saving in a 401K. Plus paying off the homeplace and very little debt at this point. We have been taking our 5W out from time to time and now hope to take it out more and for longer periods of time. Doing some projects around the house and may actually look for a part time job later just because. We have a few cows and raise some hay plus my retired husband drives a school bus during school year (but can take off any time we get the urge to go). I think the nicest part is being able to cut back on the work. My commute was over 100 miles a day for over 20 years, 5 days a week. Sure feels good to sit out on the back patio in the mornings and have my coffee there instead of drinking it on interstate 20 headed for work! However I would rather be having my coffee (or whatever) with the Lord! Maranatha!
Like all of you--I have my eye on the blessed hope that our Lord will call for us very very soon! Having said that, I'm also a stubborn saver and 401k'er. Credit Card debt is gone, car paid for (old but still works), but the wife & I also bought a home in March. This has me a bit frazzled with the whole expenses side of the equation.
I started my 401k when I was 26 (now 35) and it's grown to a pretty good size in 9 years. If you are young, I would highly encourage you to open up a good 401k & roth IRA account and start saving immediately. It's never too late regardless of your age--but get out of debt first.
I really wish I would have opened my 401k when I was 16 or so.

Christians can also repeat that popular claim: "My retirement plan is out of this world!"
Matt 6:19-21 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
