Thread: The State of Things: Believers, Take Heart!

Default The State of Things: Believers, Take Heart!

Hello, RR community! This is my first official thread post on here. I figured it was a good one with which to start, given the 'state of things'.

So, after a day of mourning for my country's official demise and processing the events--and resulting reality--of Tuesday's election, I have come to a place of peace and resigned acceptance, knowing that there was nothing more I could have done and that it is indeed God's will.

As with four years ago, when I was equally shocked and appalled the first time America elected this fraud, this scripture has helped me immensely. It rings even truer and carries more weight now, as I'm utterly convinced that we are moving ever closer to the twilight years (days?) of this earth, according to God's perfect plan:

    Daniel 2:20-23
May God be praised for ever and ever!
    He is wise and powerful.
    He changes times and seasons.
    He sets up kings.

    He removes them from power.
The wisdom of those who are wise comes from him.
He gives knowledge to those who have understanding.
He explains deep and hidden things.
He knows what happens in the darkest places.
And where he is, everything is light.
God of my people, I thank and praise you.
You have given me wisdom and power.

Now while I am aware that the only thing I can be sure of in the coming years is that our once-great nation will decline even more precipitously and will be brought to her knees as a direct result of our electing a fool to lead us, I also know that the ONLY way Barack Hussein Obama is in power is because GOD has ordained that it be so--not because of the mindless majority of hapless sycophants who elected him or because of the false 'greatness' of his person (seriously, I don't think a less-deserving, less-qualified, less-COMPETENT individual could possibly exist).

How else can you explain the fact that everything this despicable man has done has failed miserably and only brought about more hardship for our country, yet sheeple blindly hearded themselves in droves and voted for his failing policies and reprehensible dogma once again?

It is as though they are under a malevolent spell; they 'cannot see the forest for the trees' and are walking through life in the foggy haze of lies and empty promises they bought from this reprobate, hook, line and sinker.

We are absolutely experiencing God's hand of blessing being removed from America (the Bible is crystal clear in stating that any nation that stands with Israel will be blessed and those that do not will be cursed: Numbers 24:5, 9; Genesis 12:3; Psalm 122:6) for many reasons, not the least of which, the social depravity that has reached Sodom and Gomorrah levels. She has willfully cast her lot and thrown her virtue and beauty away, and now her betrayal is catching up with her.

Our society has loudly proclaimed that the wellbeing of trees and the like should be respected and preserved over the life of a helpless unborn child--even one that has been born alive as a result of a botched abortion. Our president has repeatedly supported and voted to MURDER the child born alive from an abortion because 'it's not fair to punish the mother with a child she doesn't want!" Our churches are dying, with the majority remaining being cannibalized from within by apostasy and pop culture. Even within the church, moral relativism and decay has increased exponentially.

The nuclear family has been ripped apart at the seams and continues to be ravaged by selfishness, societal disease, proponents of all things sick, debased and demented (hello, gay marriage), and wanton hedonism reigns supreme.

Islam has taken hold everywhere and will continue to forcefully push into the western world--and no one is taking it seriously, nor are they even aware of its breathtaking evil (Sharia law IS coming to America). It is Satan's chosen religion to deceive the masses with a false pretense of being peaceful and loving, when in fact, it is the extreme opposite. Yet the masses will not believe and will be continue to be deceived. As a result of this and the inevitable growing societal hatred of those who love the Lord, Christians will become increasingly persecuted, and we will especially become aware of it for the first time in this country, to the point where we will one day soon have to actively choose to take a stand for our faith--possibly suffering consequences.

The drumbeat of war is being heard everywhere. The Middle East is on fire, and the fire will only spread outward, leaving in its wake blood-soaked destruction.

Every day, another earthquake or similar calamitous natural disaster takes place. If you are paying attention as a believer, it's almost exciting, because it means God's prophetic events are coming to pass. These are signs that cannot be ignored if you believe the infallibility of the Word of God--and I emphatically do, because it's the only thing that has proven right, over and over and over throughout history.

Again, I go to scripture for clarity and reassurance, and I'm blown away by how spot on and relevant it is. Jesus spoke specifically 2,000 years ago to what is happening now:

    Matthew 24:1-14
You will hear about wars. You will also hear people talking about future wars. Don't be alarmed. Those things must happen. But the end still isn't here. Nation will fight against nation. Kingdom will fight against kingdom. People will go hungry. There will be earthquakes in many places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.
Then the people will hand you over to be treated badly and killed (my insertion: persecution of Christians worldwide is at an all-time high). All nations will hate you because of me. At that time, many will turn away from their faith. They will hate each other. They will hand each other over to their enemies. Many false prophets will appear. They will fool many people. Because evil will grow, most people's love will grow cold. But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. This good news of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world. It will be a witness to all nations. Then the end will come.

And skeptics bray over and over how irrelevant, archaic, obsolete and inapplicable the Bible is!

The Lord is completely aware of what's going on and He offers support and assurance to continue to be faithful. In fact, He addresses it directly to John in Revelation:

    Revelation 22:10-13
Then he told me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy in this book. These things are about to happen (referring to the tribulation events). Let those who do wrong keep on doing wrong. Let those who are evil continue to be evil. Let those who do what is right keep on doing what is right. And let those who are holy continue to be holy. Look! I am coming soon! I bring my rewards with me. I will reward each person for what he has done. I am the Alpha and Omega. I am the First and the Last. I am the Beginning and the End."

God also spoke directly to my heart this morning through the devotion I read to my kids (from the devotions book More Dangerous Devotions, by Jackie Perseghetti). There is no way it was coincidental, so I'd like to share a bit of that with you as well.

It was fittingly titled, "You'll Get What You Deserve!" The subject was the story of Saul's bitter jealousy toward David because he was favored by God after killing Goliath. He spent 10 years trying to kill David, and when David had a chance to kill him, he did not; rather, he respected the fact that God had placed Saul in power as king. The opening question was this: "Do you have a hard time respecting those in authority--especially when you don't think they deserve it?" Gulp. The gist of the devotion is that we are called to respect God's authority with regards to who He PLACES in authority--whether we like it or not.

Wow. If that didn't cut right to the heart of my disdain and disgust for our hideous president and all the liberal forces placed in power this week! The devotion ended with this: Showing honor to a leader who doesn't deserve it takes real character. It is far too easy to make jokes about that person or help spread dishonor about him. Even when t seems that the "opportunity is right" for attacking him, God calls us to a higher level. Take a moment now to think about those in leadership over you--parents, teachers, city officials, congressmen--even the president. How is your heart attitude toward them? Pray for them right now, and ask God to help them in their positions of responsibility.

I am consistently amazed by how God speaks to us when--and if--we are willing to listen. Of all the devotions there are, that THIS is the one He chose for me to read today is so incredible and powerful to me. In all honesty, it may take a good while for me to be able to actually ask Him to help BO in his position, because his intent is only to bring down the country--but I can at least have a respectful attitude to show my children with regards to the situation in general, and I think that was a huge thing for them (and me!) to hear this morning. I also understand and know that whatever Obama accomplishes while in office, it is only ACCORDING TO GOD'S WILL--regardless of whether it makes sense to us. It's not for us to understand at this point.

I guess the biggest thing I'm taking from what God's revealing to me this week is that He is very much in control and we are not to fret and worry, even though it feels like everything around us is spinning out of control.

For reasons wholly unknown to us, He has chosen to give Obama power for this period of time, and only time will reveal to us how this works in His plan.

My heart aches for what America once was and for the 'nails in the coffin' this election represented. We had one last chance to turn back, and instead, our nation blindly lunged forward into the darkness. We will never be able to recover from this as a nation. I do have great fear for our future--especially for my kids--but I am determined to give it over to the Lord--even if I have to repeat this day by day. I will not let fear and despair cloud my judgment and faith, and I will cling to this verse to help me achieve this:

    Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Now, some of you may not be chronic worryworts like me, but this is a breathrough for me, to be able to feel strong enough to 'let go and let God'. Once again, God is way ahead of me, providing words of comfort through Jesus in anticipation of my fear:

    John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

And one last word of encouragement for us from Jesus:

    John 14:1
Let not your heart be troubled: have faith in God and have faith in me.

I know this was long, and it's really just my thinking and processing events aloud, but we need to uplift and support each other as believers, so I thought I'd share, and I hope this helps your hearts as well. Feel free to pass along to anyone if you want.

Above all, we need to be alert and ready in our hearts, because no one but God knows when Jesus will return--not even Jesus himself:

    Mark 13:32
No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

With the way the world has slipped into utter depravity, I pray it will be sooner than later. Maranatha! I believe now, more than ever, we are being called to live boldly in faith and actively work among believers and non-believers alike to win hearts and souls for the Lord, because the hour is very late and our time is dwindling. For all of us who labor under despair at the sorrow, pain, sadness and evil prevailing in the world, God gives us this blessed assurance of hope that we will one day [soon] experience joy beyond compare:

    Revelation 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

This is a temporary place; we are just 'passing through', but while we are here, we are called to be a light to a world in utter darkness. Let's lift one another up and take heart.

And one last thing to treasure in our hearts as the days get tougher and we feel increasingly marginalized in this secular-sick world, in Jesus' own words:

    John 15:18
If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first.

Keep looking up--the King is coming!

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” - John Adams

I would disagree somewhat, maybe in a way you've not considered much. I think the mindless majority is just that, mindless, and that is how we got Obama. Its in the Lords will because He will give a mindless majority what they want, mindless leadership. From long ago, the Lord saw it happening. I don't believe the Lord moves towards evil like this, rather He allows it, especially if men want it. Its sort of a "maintaining tension" sort of thing, along the lines of "the problem of evil." The Lord is not responsible for the foolish things men do, He works within it.
Don't panic! Just be Rapture Ready.

    Joel 3:2

I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land.

    Great post ForSuchATime

The Lord has brought you and other wonderful new friends to Rapture Ready as a result of Marxist's reelection. I am so grateful to Him for showing us that His goodness will ALWAYS overshadow evil!

As the Lord heals my heart, I am being filled with a renewed zeal to minister to the lost in the short time we have left in this sorry flesh. The long journey is about to end ..... Heaven is at hand!

A scripture that should be resonating in our hearts today is found in Psalm 2 where God talks about the vain plotting of evil people and nations:

The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them.

    We stand with Israel
    Genesis 12 verse 3

I do not consider the Obama Administration to be incompetent.
They have an extreme socialist agenda which they are clearly succeeding in accomplishing.
They remind me of Hitler's program of lies and murder to achieve their power. Obama's promotion of murdering babies has been part of why he is succeeding.

To pray for Obama is to support his agenda as I see it. I pray against Obama's agenda. I can't see where a vile administration promoting abortion etc. is "God's Will".

Great post! I really needed that. I have spent the last couple of days worrying about my family. I have 4 small children, and I am truly grieved for them. I'm debating homeschooling. Huge decision for me because I have kiddos ages 3 to 8!

Thank you for such a great post.
Before reading this, I had been singing, "It is well" all morning

Lets all continue to pray for and lift each other up in Jesus name.

We are supposed to pray for our leaders. We don't have to pray for Obama's agenda if it doesn't line up with God's will, but are supposed to pray for him. I intend to keep his salvation and that of his wife and children in my prayers. I will also pray that God's will be done in regards to Obama's agenda.

Thank you for so elequently stating what had been on my heart prior to the election and then confirmed post election. On many levels I am deeply saddened. I am trying to finding the good in all situations. Obama's win encourages me that we will soon be home with our Father. I am not as Bible wise as I would like to be but it seems there is a steady downhill decline for the US, not a decline, leveling and then further decline. Revelation seems pretty clear that this is "how it has to be".

To expand upon HIE's post a bit with a slightly different tack - I think we all should honor and respect the office of the Presidency and most here at RR do - The man occupying that office however has fairly well earned the disdain heaped upon him. He needs our prayers for many more reasons than can be enumerated here but in shorthand, pray for his genuine salvation and Spirit led decision making in the days ahead.

I thoufht that was a great post! It reflects how I have been feeling since the election results. I am a worrywart too and because I have two boys I am naturally concerned about how much pain and persecution we will gace before the rapture.

I too read scriptures for them and actually write them and have each boy read his on the way to schol. Trying to dress them in the full armoir of God. Actually going to start homeschholing my middleschooler in Jan. Not because of end times he has anxiety disorders but I am so scared but keep thinking well, at least he'll be at home with me safr than at school.

Welcome to our family and I found such encouragement from your post I think I'll send it to my mom who is just as sick as all of us to see the ending of the America we once knew. Too bad I have no other family member or.friends who are.Christains to appreciate this. They all think it's lunacy, the rapture, including mu husband!

Anyway, thanks for posting and welcome aboard!

I actually agree with most of the original post's points and I can see where I did come across more strongly than I should of for which I now apologize.

Thanks for such a warm welcome, everyone!

HIE, we are actually in agreement, in that I meant that because the Lord chose to give us (them, humanity, etc.) free will to make choices--both good and bad--He did know all that would happen over the course of history and as such, it was always necessarily part of His will for the world in accordance to His plan for humanity. Long story short, He knew full well the 'mindless masses' would choose Obama, and we all know where that will lead us and our country: further along down the path of complete destruction. Sorry if that was unclear.

Clouds, I respectfully disagree, to an extent. There is indeed a faction of the Obama administration that are, in fact, quite competent and devastatingly capable in executing their dark, destructive plans for our country. Sadly, they have used, are using, and will continue to use their acumen, talents and capabilities toward that evil goal of bringing America to her knees. Many others, however (including Obama), are woefully inept and breathtakingly clueless with regards to running a government, having repeatedly illustrated this fact with startling incompetence. Obama is, frankly, nothing more than an egotistical, overblown, foolish and bitter man-child with a chip on his shoulder and a determination to get 'revenge' on...what--Democracy? presumably. Unfortunately, his empty-suit countenance appears to have it together, and so as such, the facade works well for the puppeteers working the strings behind him. His anger, contempt and hatred for all things American fuels his pomposity, making him seem more than he actually is. I just think his minions are the worker bees with the driving power, and he's really but a figurehead. At any rate, he's far from the brilliant ingenue his clamoring devotees project him to be. What I meant when I discussed the devotion about having respect and praying for our leaders is, essentially, what jadeeyes and Steve53 clarified: that we are to respect the office and pray for the person (and family) with regards to their potential salvation and for God's will throughout this administration's years of power, since we have no way of understanding how exactly it fits into God's will and plan. Believe me, it's going to require a lot of obedience on my part to even want to do that for the Obamas.

HisBeloved, I too am considering homeschooling for my two precious people in the not-too-distant future, and "It Is Well With My Soul" is my all-time favorite hymn. Great minds think alike!

kathy56, I think a lot of us are feeling similarly...more questions than answers. Guess that's where our faith comes into play, huh?

duniegirl, I'm thrilled you want to share my humble thoughts with your mother. I have a similar situation in my families: some believers, most not, but none really in tune to just how late the 'hour' is for this world. Sad, isn't it, that even within the church, there is so much confusion and lack of knowledge?

Clouds, no worries; I totally get where you're coming from. I'm ashamed to admit the dark, brooding thoughts I've had involving the Obamas and their foolish followers over the years. Let's just say they've been far from uh, Christian. It's so hard to see the train wreck coming from a mile away and be completely helpless to stop it. The only way it makes any sort of sense is to simply accept that it is part of the divine plan. We're all in this together!

[QUOTE=ForSuchATime;2319340]As with four years ago, when I was equally shocked and appalled the first time America elected this fraud,

Now while I am aware that the only thing I can be sure of in the coming years is that our once-great nation will decline even more precipitously and will be brought to her knees as a direct result of our electing a fool to lead us, I also know that the ONLY way Barack Hussein Obama is in power is because GOD has ordained that it be so--

Our president has repeatedly supported and voted to MURDER the child born alive from an abortion because 'it's not fair to punish the mother with a child she doesn't want!"

God also spoke directly to my heart this morning through the devotion I read to my kids

It was fittingly titled, "You'll Get What You Deserve!" The subject was the story of Saul's bitter jealousy toward David because he was favored by God after killing Goliath. The opening question was this: "Do you have a hard time respecting those in authority--especially when you don't think they deserve it?" Gulp. The gist of the devotion is that we are called to respect God's authority with regards to who He PLACES in authority--whether we like it or not.

I am consistently amazed by how God speaks to us when--and if--we are willing to listen. It's not for us to understand at this point.

I guess the biggest thing I'm taking from what God's revealing to me this week is that He is very much in control and we are not to fret and worry, even though it feels like everything around us is spinning out of control.

    John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

And one last word of encouragement for us from Jesus:

    John 14:1
Let not your heart be troubled: have faith in God and have faith in me.

but we need to uplift and support each other as believers,

    John 15:18
If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first.[QUOTE]

FSAT- Welcome to RR-loved your post and it did describe how I felt Wed. morning as I was driving to go take care of my 19 mon. old granddaughter. I was sad, but uplifted at the same time. Knowing that this happening had made the return all that much closer to occurring very soon, but not wanting it to be happening to my grandchildren and all of the other innocents in the world. However what God has planned for us is so much better that it is indescribable and I really shouldn't have these worries. Sort of feel like a split personality at times these days....

Your Bible verses were spot on in addressing my fears surrounding all the recent events and thank you for putting them out there. I'll have to ask for God's help with respecting or at least honoring God's choice of leaving Obama in the presidency. I'll admit to less than Christian thoughts of him and those around him. I think the events in Benghazi were the final straw for me and I do need to ask forgiveness for them.

I'm going to continue to do things for the Lord and try to increase the number that I do...and praying for the ones in charge of the gov't will be one. Looking forward to meeting the people from RR when the Lord comes to take us home to our true home with Him!
This world is not my home. I'm just passing through. If heaven's not my home, O Lord, what would I do? The angels beckon me from heaven's open door, and I can't feel at home in this world anymore."
Complete justice for us will come only "when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels" (v. 7).

Excellent post. I believe God has told me alot of these same things. It didn't stop me from feeling completely hopeless and depressed for a few days though.

Nah, BO didn't come up out of a vacuum, we're reaping the effects of decades if not centuries of moral decline. This country was built on greed and the greed will kill us in the end. Regardless of the person, what are the issues he stood for? Abortion, gay marriage, more handouts, taxes on the rich, etc. by and large, that's what the people want and they're getting it. Makes me want to expat but the rest of the world is in the same boat so we all sink together.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5:5
