More military budget-cut repercussions: Nat. Guard soldiers, airmen to be furloughed 1 day per week
According to the article, the plan is to furlough for one day per week certain National Guard personnel who wear Army and Air Force uniforms full time. Expected to last for about three months for now, it is unknown if these furloughs will continue into the new fiscal year beginning October 1. Thousands of the affected personnel will be receiving 20% less pay, creating hardships for them and their families. The article addresses how the reduced number of manhours could potentially have a negative impact on readiness and ability to help out with natural disasters as well.
