Default US air strikes pound pro-Assad forces in Syria

    http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/05...-in-syria.html

The U.S. military launched fresh air strikes against pro-Assad forces in Syria, officials told Fox News Thursday.

The American strikes were the first against Assad positions since the Pentagon rained 57 Tomahawk missiles on the Shayrat air base near Homs. But the strikes confirmed Thursday were believed to be the first targeting Syrian personnel. According to the defense official, the coalition strikes targeted pro regime units operating in the vicinity of At-Tnaf, near the Iraqi border. After a show of force to try to stop the pro regime forces was ignored, the strikes were mounted.

A member of the U.S.-backed Syrian rebel forces told Reuters the strikes hit a convoy of Syrian and Iranian-backed militias that were heading toward a base used by U.S. and U.S.-supported forces.

Muzahem al Saloum, from the Maghawir al Thwra group, told Reuters that the jets struck after some rebel forces clashed with Syrian and Iranian militias after they had advanced to about 17 miles (27 km) from the base.

"We notified the coalition that we were being attacked by the Syrian army and Iranians in this point, and the coalition came and destroyed the advancing convoy," Saloum said.

Default After US strikes, Trump's Syria plan starts coming into view

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/04/17...into-view.html

Though still evolving, President Donald Trump's plans for Syria have come into clearer view since he ordered cruise missiles fired on a Syrian air base to punish Assad for a chemical weapons attack. The strategy breaks down into three basic phases: defeating the Islamic State group, restoring stability in Syria region-by-region and securing a political transition in which Assad ultimately steps down.

The approach is little different than one that failed under the Obama administration, and arguably faces greater challenges.

Assad has violently resisted all attempts to end his rule, fueling a conflict that has killed as many as a half-million people. The opposition fighting Assad is far weaker after a series of battlefield defeats. And any U.S. plan for Assad will need the cooperation of key Syria ally Russia. Trump last week said U.S.-Russian relations "may be at an all-time low."

Still, several U.S. officials said Trump's national security team is using this month's instability in Syria to try to refocus conversations with Moscow.

Default BREAKING: U.S. Shoots Down Syrian Fighter Jet

"At 6:43 p.m., a Syrian regime SU-22 dropped bombs near SDF fighters south of Tabqah and, in accordance with rules of engagement and in collective self-defense of coalition partnered forces, was immediately shot down by a U.S. F/A-18E Super Hornet," said the statement.

"The coalition does not seek to fight Syrian regime, Russian, or pro-regime forces partnered with them, but will not hesitate to defend coalition or partner forces from any threat," it said."The demonstrated hostile intent and actions of pro-regime forces toward coalition and partner forces in Syria conducting legitimate counter-ISIS operations will not be tolerated."

Seems like rules of engagement for US forces have changed for the better...

Where I'm a bit confused it that obama had us there to support forces who were fighting against the current governemt forces of Syria. Now it seems they're just fight daesh and trying to avoid Assad's forces.

Default Russia warns US after downing of Syrian warplane

MOSCOW (AP) -- Warplanes from the U.S.-led coalition operating over Syrian government-controlled areas west of the Euphrates River will be tracked as potential targets, Russia's Defense Ministry said Monday, a day after the U.S. military shot down a Syrian air force jet.

Moscow condemned the downing of the Syrian jet after it dropped bombs near the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces that are fighting the Islamic State group in Syria's increasingly complicated civil war.

Did they think we would sit there and do nothing when they attempt to bomb our forces, and that our forces would have no air support? They must think Obama is still in power.

Given Bible prophecy, I figure that Russia will end up with the upper hand in Syria and in the region. I hope it doesn't get too ugly for our military personnel in the region.

Then we have Iran bombing Isis in eastern Syria. It's a mess.

Praying for our military's safety and for the salvation of those who are lost.
