The kids do- not a bad idea. We have 3 ATV's, 2 motorcycles, and 2 minibikes...and a riding mower (though I could probably walk faster). Gas would be a concern, I usually only store about 15-20 gallons at most if everything is gassed up...so maybe a storage tank...?

These are great fuel storage jerry cans. I picked up a few of them last year and I'm very impressed.

    2. A good battery charger that handles multiple sizes. Get one that plugs into both 120ac and 12vdc (car) then get a solar panel that outputs 12vdc

    3. As mentioned a good water purifier.

    4. Review and consolidate your paperwork (insurance, wills, birth certs etc.) make images and put it on a password protected USB.

    5. buy something nice for the little lady and kids

You're supposed to be Christians not alarmists.

    Where's your trust.

God know all too well what's going on.

God has always provided for all my needs, and I trust He will continue.

Just out of curiosity I asked this question on another forum and got no response. Would it belittle my Trust in God and negate my belief in a pretrib rapture if I were to build a bomb/fallout shelter?

First, thats a baited question just to see what kind of response I would post.
    Sorry not biting.

If you want to build a bomb shelter, go ahead.

It's your choice to negate your belief in the pre-trib rapture.

Your first sentence contradicts your second sentence.

So....if we are raptured, let's say in October...and bombs go off, panic ensues, and electronic transactions are off beginning next week- then what?

Am I a fool for preparing for battle or survival and that of my family? Or am I a fool for preparing period, because God will just hand everything to me? Or am I blessed to be able to prepare for the worst in case someone else didn't?

Too many variables. Of course His grace is all that we need, but making preparations is far from being alarmist and is not anti-biblical... I'm more a moderate preparer for the unexpected- tools, shelter, implements, etc. I don't have food- I can secure my own.

God knows all, the end from the beginning- but we don't.

If your raptured then you'll have nothing to worry about.

Yes, of course...my point was, between now and then, I have the ability to better care for my children- just as a for instance. I'm not arguing your point that the Rapture solves it all, or that God is in control, but rather could He be leading some to prepare? Maybe even to help you?

Maybe a small distillery to make fuel grade ethanol
Some large copper or stainless steel containers
a bin to store a few hundred bushels of corn
Alternative heat sources Wood, coal, etc.
If left behind I could drink myself to death in a hurry with 190 proof.

why are we spending all of this money on survival items?

i mean, like someone else mentioned earlier, are we planning on being left behind?

seriously... why not take the $2k and stick it in a saving account, or a CD... or something useful?

In these economic conditions? No thanks- the mattress will do fine. Besides, I'm already an outdoorsy type, I'd just use the stuff on camping or riding trips. Practicality is the name of the game. See the OP.

I trust the Lord and I am not an alarmist. It appears that God has laid it on some heartsto stock up on food, water and supplies. It's a good idea to have some of these things on hand in the event of a storm or something else that may knock out power and communications for a few days to a few weeks. It may also be that God is having people stock these things in preparation for calling His church home. He may have plans for these items to be used by people left behind and trying to survive the Tribulation without taking the mark. If someone feels led to stock up on emergency aupplies, I feel no need to call them alarmist or to deride their faith. If they are my brothers and sisters in Christ, they have the Holy Spirit to guide them the same as I do. The Holy Spirit may lead some to do things that He doesn't lead me to do.
