Default Man fined for preaching near Liberty Bell

A man arrested for preaching on a public sidewalk too close to the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia has been declared guilty of violating federal law. He was fined over $400 and put on probation, told not to go in Independence National Historical Park – or on its surrounding sidewalks – for a year.

Too bad he doesn't have religious freedom as the liberty bell promised. That bell ring just as loud as he is on preaching.

This sure isn't right. I thought our country was created for religious freedoms. They have some laws interperted backward, probably by the one's that are on the devil's side.

That is just crazy. I thought we had freedom of religion and free speech. Just a sign of things to come, I am afraid.

The LORD will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the sky will tremble. But the LORD will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel. Joel 3:16

It was. But this isn't the same country any more. It isn't even the same country we were born in.

    It hurts to watch.

Philly is full of homosexuals now. Do you hear about them getting harassed? Nope.

He was one of the Philadelphia 11 that got arrested for praying at a gay pride rally. I'm glad there are Christians out there with that kind of persistence.

In a particular section (13th Street from Walnut to Pine Street) the street signs have the Rainbow symbol officially adorned on the actual street signs to proudly proclaim that you've entered a gay section.

those are on the signs in case god forgets where he was going to send the next fire and brimstone storm.

I think we all know we would be in big trouble if we put a bible picture or cross symbol on our street signs, they would be all over that and how "offensive" it is to them.

Yes, and if you look on the tourism website, there is an entire portion devoted to homosexual-friendly businesses.

The positive side of this story - God will always REIGN... It doesn't matter how many laws, how many people are put in jail, fined, persecuted. There will always be people that will preach the word by any means necessary.... The only thing that offended people was the truth. Violence seems to be more acceptable.. I bet you anything - the people that complained called him names - and they say followers of Christ are offense..

    PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Ridiculous, people can preach here in the Netherlands everywhere in public.
I do not understand why one needs to get a permit to preach in a certain free speech zone when the first amendment allows people free speech anywhere in public.
    What a courageous man.

It's starting to get bad against those of us who are believers. On days that I do my major house cleaning I put on worship music and my daughter and I sing and dance as we are cleaning. Well, most of the time we get so into it that the volume gets turned up loud Everytime we do this I think to myself "Is today the day I get a knock at my door and get told that if I don't turn off my believer's music that I will be arrested?". This used to be a crazy thought now it's not Even sadder is the idea that the neighbors blasting their horrible rock music won't be bothered for a second by the law.

You said it. I completely understand. It is a little scary and in todays world, well you never know. I was looking at apartments awhile back and I saw this really nice one, only one problem with it and I was going to put it on my maybe list when I saw a man and some women walking through the hall, well the women were all wearing burkas and face coverings. Thats when I started thinking, there is no way I can live here, what if they can hear my christian music in the hallway, or my teaching cds I listen to. In the world today, that is just asking for trouble. Not only could I be told that my music and cds were offensive, but due to their religion, I could be in a lot more trouble then that.

John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.Matthew 5:23-24 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

Well if it did happened as far as music, I would think the church would be the first to go.
