Tony Campolo has been poison to Campus Crusade since the early 80's

Revelation 22:17a The Spirit and Bride are now saying, "Come!" The ones who hear are now saying, "Come!" The ones who thirst are now saying, "Come!" Come LORD Jesus !

Default Jesus and the social gospel

The social gospel tells us that Jesus' ministry was spent mostly dealing with social issues such as poverty. I need help in finding the scriptural basis for that claim. When I read the gospel it says nothing about Jesus building houses for the homeless or setting up an organization to take care of the needs of the poor. There is not even a record of him building a basketball court at the local synagogue. He did feed the crowds that came to see him on several occasions but he did not organize mass food drives on a regular basis. Even the early Church did not seem to be into the social gospel. The Church did have a system of taking care of the needy who were inside the Church and Paul was told by the Jerusalem elders to remember the poor but the emphasis of Acts and the epistles is on Salvation and Christian growth. Jesus spent most of his time talking about the Kingdom of God.

From where are they getting this stuff? I may be missing some key verses but I don't think Jesus saying "blessed are the poor" means put salvation behind social activism.

He DOES encourage us to be charitable to the poor, but He encourages us to do so voluntarily. He never says such charity should be coerced by the state, or through socialism, you are right about that. Furthermore, He talks a lot about stewardship, and part of good stewardship is making sure your charity goes to people who truly need it and is done efficiently, neither of which government social programs do.

They look for passages to fit their worldview. No different than so many others who fall into Biblical error.

it's pretty much liberation theology... the same lies that that obama's ex-pastor got in trouble for preaching. I don't see why it doesn't bother them to preach something so similar.

These are the same people that say Jesus was a Liberal. Whatever, he is neither republican nor democrat.

Wow!!!! ...there is an awful lot of information here that I would like to read! I find it ..."interesting" ....that, just yesterday, I was compelled to research BT and the new Black Panthers. I really didnt find anything I didnt already know. A quick scan of the information here let me know to read. ........(I dont know how to paragraph).....I....like many.....saw the writing on the wall with our Presidential candidate. I AM,. though, concerned about the agenda of the followers of BT and the Black Panthers......I am not racist and my Black friends are not racist but over the years I have tried to keep up with ......everything I could.......hard to explain. My question is...and this is not spiritual but....what is the ultimate goal of BT and the Black Panthers?....I read their 10 point tenent and the very first one was SEGREGATION... Like was said, that it is so contradictory....what IS the main goal? What are they REALLLY trying to accomplish? It is SOOO crazy that it HAS to be satan motivated, but in what way and for what purpose?....I realize this may have been answered but ....time really is of essence. Maybe a synopsis?..Quick overview Thanks in advance and there is no hurry.

No problem, just break every few sentences. It doesn't have to be *right*, just broken up.

We've had threads on this issue, people want to read every post but when they see a huge wall of text, the eyes rebel and the post is passed over.

Also, using CAPS means one is SHOUTING. You can italicize, bold or underline for emphasis.
