Hang in there living4Jc. You are in my prayers, I used the patch and it sure seemed to help with the urges. I would still get them but instead of a long lasting urge every couple of minutes untill I would give in, the patch help reduce the urges plus they were not so intense and long lasting, in most cases after 4-5 seconds they would be gone. Today is day 31 for me with no cigs-

Believe it or not the way I quit was unusal in the fact I first picked a day of the week I could smoke. That was Mondays. I could always look forward to Mondays, ha a switch. Anyways I smoked on Mondays for about two months then I just quit.

    I will pray for you.

Today is my 26th day of not smoking!!!

I quit last month on the 25th and haven't even taken a puff of a cigarette. I'm quitting by the help and grace of God because I loved them too much to ever be able to just quit on my own.

I smoked for approximately 35 years. I started smoking when I was VERY young (around 8 or 9). I will be 44 this year. I smoked about a pack and a half a day. Praise God!!!

ing for everyones success. I smoke too. I have tried several times to quit, but have failed. I have prayed and prayed on this, and I still fall flat on my face. I have been under MAJOR stress the last 2 years, and while that is no excuse, smoking has helped calm my nerves...
I hope to be where ya'all are one day.

Maybe if I hang out in here it'll rub off.......

Light4mypath, I will be blunt with you, if you have been praying about it then deep down inside you must be wanting to get rid of this habit. You proably wonder what it is like to take in a deep breath and not cough or what it is like to be able to go to church and not wonder if you smell like smoke. Or maybe you feel like it is keeping you from having a true walk with GOD. I say these things becuase it is how I felt. I have got to tell you that I prayed and I prayed GOD would take this from me. And I know it is only by his grace. I will pray for you just as I know that people were praying for me. I remember how inspiring it was for me to read this same thread on the old board and to know that there was others just like me struggling with the same issue, but also knowing that GOD had given many of them grace over it- just like I belive he will give you grace over it!

I've had 2 since March 23 after an 18 year PPD habit. For some reason when I work my part time job every other Friday night, I have to have one....hence, the 2 cigs in a month. But, other than that, I am doing good.

I used Chantix and believe me if I can do it anyone can. I slept on my back yesterday for 2 hours and I could breathe!

    Praise God!

    Doing great here!

    I've been smoke free for
    9 weeks 1 Day

    I've not smoked
    1,279 cigarettes

    I've saved
    $230.22

As some of you know, I was forced to quit cold turkey after having minor heart surgery in Feb. God is good and while I do still have twinges of cravings on occasion, He has taken the desire away from me.

Keep up the good work y'all! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Hey, everybody. It's nice to see that others are trying to quit also. Tomorrow's a new day. I did the patch a while back, but then I caved in. I'll start all over again tomorrow. It's hard to talk to others about Christ when they know I smoke. Therefore, the cigs have gotta go!!!

38 yrs of 2 packs a day and the grace of God gave me a new beginning two years ago last Feb 27th. PTL

He can deliver you too, "all" you have to do is to LET him. (That's the hard part.)
I used the patch for 4 weeks to get me through the first part. I never believed I could quit, never really tried before, I was too scared to even try & I quit on my first attempt. I know that God gave me the strength for that.

No more stinky clothes, stinky breath, coughing or wheezing. No more centering my existence around whether or not I can smoke and do I have enough cigarettes. AND no more burning up all my money in smoke!!!

The don't call Him the Deliverer for nothing. He is there for you! =D
