I quit about five years ago now and have never looked back despite some difficult times. Just went cold turkey one day and that was it - no real cravings for nicotine just a temptation to smoke at times. Just want to encourage people who are wanting to quit - keep at it - God is on your side. You can be free of this - that's how I find it now - freedom. No more getting jumpy in meetings or at friend's houses when I am visiting, no more smell of smoke on my breath, no more trying to find a place to keep out of sight at church and having a quick puff. God delivered my wife from smoking over 25years a go now - just after she got saved and she hasn't had one since. I was a lot slower! My mother quit when she was 83! Just stopped. I found that looking at it from the point of view of being free rather than enslaved to smoking helped and that I wasn't being deprived of anything - stopping was all gain. All underpinned by God's grace of course. Bless you folks who are quitting and please don't get despondent if you give in - I had a number of false starts but came through in the end. There really is life after stopping smoking - it's a far better one than you can imagine.
The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Deu 33:27a)
