Pray November 8, 2012 PRAYER LIST FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO BE SMOKE-FREE WINNERS!!!

Lord, we pray for each one of these posters who desires to be or stay a smoke-free winner!
Give them the strength and will to stay strong and never never give up! IF someone does give up
or given in to the temptation may they not feel defeated, but pray harder and lean even harder on You dear Lord Who is our Strength and Deliverer!! In the precious name of Jesus. AMEN

REMINDER: Being tempted is not sin.

    1 Corinthians 10:13

    Good News Translation (GNT)

13 Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps his promise, and he will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, he will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.

    1 Corinthians 10:13

    King James Version (KJV)

13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it

I quit about five years ago now and have never looked back despite some difficult times. Just went cold turkey one day and that was it - no real cravings for nicotine just a temptation to smoke at times. Just want to encourage people who are wanting to quit - keep at it - God is on your side. You can be free of this - that's how I find it now - freedom. No more getting jumpy in meetings or at friend's houses when I am visiting, no more smell of smoke on my breath, no more trying to find a place to keep out of sight at church and having a quick puff. God delivered my wife from smoking over 25years a go now - just after she got saved and she hasn't had one since. I was a lot slower! My mother quit when she was 83! Just stopped. I found that looking at it from the point of view of being free rather than enslaved to smoking helped and that I wasn't being deprived of anything - stopping was all gain. All underpinned by God's grace of course. Bless you folks who are quitting and please don't get despondent if you give in - I had a number of false starts but came through in the end. There really is life after stopping smoking - it's a far better one than you can imagine.
The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Deu 33:27a)

I would update my stats on the long list but I don't know how. If someone does, will they help me out? Everyday counts plus it encourages people. I am sure that list needs alot of updating.

This Saturday, Dec. 1st, I will be smoke free for 16 years!! I stopped in 1996, 3 months later, at the end of Feb. 1997, I turned 50.

I started smoking when I was 18. I will be 66 this coming Feb. Nobody in my family has ever smoked, just me. Then I married a smoker and both of my kids ended up as smokers. My son has stopped though a few months ago. He became a daddy almost 4 years ago and it gave him more of a reason to stop, he has tried numerous times, I am praying this is the time that works. They say that people quit and start up again on an average of 7 times (some more, some less) before quitting finally becomes successful, so never give up!!! I was very blessed, it only took 2 times.

I stopped smoking in 1987 at the age of 40 for 2 years. I had a crisis and went back to smoking for 6 years. Then I tried quitting again 16 years ago with the patch, the ones that gradually reduce the nicotine, and I do have to say that they worked like a charm. I was a mess the first time going cold turkey. Also when I stopped smoking the second time, I had recently moved that year. My place was newly painted so I always smoked outside (I was already planning to someday quit) so I didn't have the memory of watching TV and lighting up etc.

I recommend the patches alot. Please try them if you are having trouble quitting. They are expensive but there are always coupons around, especially in November (for smoke out day) but when you compare the price of cigs for life with patches for 6 weeks, it is very cheap. You can email or call the manufacturer too for discounts, I am sure. I do that with all products that I use alot. I email them and ask them to mail me coupons as I don't have a printer.

I am praying for all of you that are struggling right now and for the others that have so far conquered the battle. I know I won't go back, I never never never even have the urge plus I can't stand the smell of smoke. Plus, I would never be able to afford it. I think a pack of cigarettes is about $5.00, isn't it?

Default Thank you!! John0730 and HugsFromJesus

    What inspiring and encouraging posts!!!

John0730we are so impressed how you have been able to be celebrating your 2 year smoke-free winner with all the stress that you have gone through and now you are in need a job!
I would encourage each one of you to say a daily prayer for him to get a good full-time job soon!!

I am not really good at giving instructions, HugsFromJesus but I will try!
I sure hope others will read your post and be encouraged not to give up!

    OK to answer your question,

What I do is copy and paste the last list of smoke-free winners and then
and then add it to a new reply... with the new updates.
I agree that we are due a major update on our list.
I would invite each one of you on the list to notify us or I would really like
for each one of you to update your own new updates. That would thrill
    me a lot!!

I love group participation, this is YOUR thread!!

    Default Thanks so much!!!

Thanks so much Mary for your kind words and request for prayers for me.

I am very thankful that the smoking habit is not in my life now. But I must admit that the no-work/financial pressure continues. So much I pray that God's will be done with my work search/financial pressures and perhaps the Lord will bestow a financial blessing on me soon so that I can continue without the stresses that could be ahead of me very soon.

    Thanks everyone for your prayers.
