    Default Help!!!

I was making a marinade for beef brisket, but I was out of some ingredients so I substituted a few things, it doesn't taste the same (obviously) but it's awful. Here is what the recipe called for:

    beef broth
red wine vinegar (I'm out so I used plain white vinegar instead)
    brown sugar
    garlic (i'm out)
    onions
dijon mustard (only had dijon mustard dressing)
    soy sauce (substituted Worcestershire sauce)

Oh and I added some cranberry juice, don't ask me why~ it seemed like a good idea at the time! lol! But the problem is...It taste awful! I can't throw away $25.00 worth of beef and start over! I need a fix quick!

    Dinner is tonight at 6.

    Any suggestions???

Get rid of the gravy, make a decent brown gravy with onions, maybe some ketchup and perhaps a bit more of the sugar. Keep tasting and see what else it could use. Pat the meat off, slice, add to the gravy once you reach the point that you like it.

I'm sorry, Lady J. Just keep trying the gravy thing and rinse off the meat. I'm sure it will be fine.

Good luck. You know, before adding anything sweet to the gravy, taste it. It may be all you need once you get the meat sliced and in it. You can always add the sugar or ketchup later.

Let me know if it helps. You've got to love experiments...I've had some doozies!

It tasted awesome! Tender juicy and wonderful! The marinade may have been gross, but it only soaked in it for 2 hours before I figured out it was "awful" The gravy was a wonderful compliment and people were drooling and asking for the recipe! Unbelievable!
