Blocked IP

I don't know if I am the only one that this happens to, but I am having some technical issues with this site. (no, this is not another "my post are vanishing" threads, but alas this is going on as well ).

Instead, my problem is that I seem to get banned every week or so! I don't have the time to post here very often anymore, but I still like to come and look at the news and see what is going on. Unfortunately every three or so weeks I come to this site and get a message that my IP has been banned, and to make matters worse I am also unable to contact the administrator. Then after a few days I am not banned anymore

Does anyone else have this problem?

No. I am the only person at this IP who comes here, and to my knowledge I have never been intentionally banned by any of the mods.

To put this in perspective, this thread is the first thread I have started or posted in over 6 weeks, yet my IP has been banned two or three times in that interval of no account activity at this IP.

You could be grabbing a blocked IP at every other login

My member name seems to be fine, if my memory serves me correct the message says that my IP is banned. Can this be an issue if my ISP doesn't provide me with a static IP?

Perhaps you could keep track of which IP you were on when you appeared banned and then share those IP's with Buzz. Perhaps he can see if you are getting a rotating IP that someone else was banned on... assuming your IP is not static.

Thanks. Thats a good idea. The next time I am banned I will check my IP, and when I am unbanned again I will give it to the mods.

You could be grabbing a blocked IP at every other login

If you're on dialup, each time you connect you'll be getting a new IP address, and if someone using the same service got IP Blocked, then
1) You'll get the IP Block at times
2) The person that was blocked will be getting a new IP & not be blocked

This also will happen for Cable & DSL, but the refresh rate is not as often.
This is one of the known problems with IP Blocking for shared IP Addresses.
You can also run into this if you Log in at places like the library, Mobil WiFi Hot Spots ect.
If someone at your local StarBucks causes problems at RR, and gets an IP ban, than Everyone at that local Starbucks is also banned along with them.
